Hippo Ad
Fall 2022
My Role
Inspiration
Co-founder and UX/UI Designer - Led the design and development of the Hippo Ad portal and user interface, while also managing research and installation processes.
During my sophomore year at the University of Washington, I noticed my apartment manager constantly struggling to put up and take down paper posters to communicate with residents. These outdated methods were inefficient and often overlooked by residents. This sparked the idea to create a digital solution that not only simplifies communication for apartment managers but also provides engaging and timely updates for residents while offering a platform for local businesses to connect with their community.
Project Goal
To enhance communication in apartment complexes by implementing digital screens that streamline announcements for managers, engage residents, and provide an advertising platform for local businesses.
Screen
Current Situation
Before graduation, Hippo Ad operated in 16 apartment buildings, providing enhanced communication services through our digital screens. We successfully collaborated with local restaurants, markets, events, and student clubs, running approximately 50 advertisements in total.
After graduating from the University of Washington, my partner and I decided to sell Hippo Ad to Bulletin.io, a larger Chicago-based company operating in the same industry.
